There certainly has been a growing interest in raw foods recently from diets advocating 100% raw ingredients or the increasingly popular Paleo diet based on the idea that raw foods provide a diet that is most similar to that of our palaeolithic evolutionary ancestors - foods that can be eaten raw are less refined, with no additives and therefore represent a more balanced nutrition with less impact on the environment.
So I was interested when we were approached by the UK distributors for the Danish company, Raw-Bite, who produce tasty, raw snack bars made from natural ingredients with no added refiend sugar. Sweetness comes mainly from the dates which form the base ingredient for the bars.
I asked RawBite what "protein" flavour is and they explained that it is basically a cacao flavoured bar but has added rice protein so if you're looking for a snack that will keep you satisfied for longer this might be the one for you.
At £1.70 each, the 50g bars aren't the cheapest snack you will find but they strike me as being a really good healthy alternative to "sweet shop" snacks, ideal for lunch boxes or picnics or just to have in your bag for that 11 o'clock feeling!
And all varieties are suitable for vegans...
