Well summer seems to keep coming and going but the fresh produce is well and truly established. However once it has been picked that fresh new season produce can be a little prone to wilting if the sun gets on it so if you regularly have your box left in a greenhouse for example it might be time to rethink before the hot weather spoils things!
This week’s greenery is provided by pak choi a soft tender leaf that suits light cooking ideally as a final ingredient in a stir fry.
Mark has asked me to draw attention to the fact that he is still using old season potatoes in the potato boxes A, D and L but this will soon change as the price of new potatoes starts to fall. This week’s potato variety is Valour. In the fruit boxes we're using southern hemisphere apples now as the English have all finished. This week's are from Chile.
B’s will get a portion of Aubergines in place of the potatoes
D’s will get a pot of New Potatoes (approx 800g) and 500g Tomatoes
E’s will get a larger portion of Aubergines and the Tomatoes
L’s and M’s will get a bundle of Asparagus although this may be subject to change at the last minute depending on quality
Q’s will get a portion of Nectarines
