Well, Autumn is in her brown clothes now – although still strangely warm for the time of year. This week sees a change in the available produce so we have Matt’s locally-grown Crown Prince Squash making an appearance. He has been suffering from badgers during the summer and they have made a big dent in his crop of Crown Prince – obviously animals of discerning taste. But some have survived although now showing the scars of badger interest!
Cavolo Nero features in all the boxes again. It's one of the tougher green leaves to cook but essentially anything you can do with curly Kale you can do with Cavolo Nero it ust might take a little longer for tenderness to set in! Check out these suggestions for cooking with it:
B’s will get 600g Parsnips instead of the potatoes.
D’s will get an additional 800g Potatoes and a portion of locally grown Crown Prince squash.
E’s will get the Parsnips and Squash
L’s and M’s will get those additions and a portion of Mushrooms.
